Eid – ul - Adha is always such a special time at Al-Falaah College.
It is one of the most important Islamic celebrations. Learners made decorations at school for their Eid supper table.
As we embrace the challenges we are currently facing with the pandemic, we also need to embrace new ways of teaching and learning. Kids are always asking questions about the world around them, so they need to have a safe educational space to promote self- discovery.
The Grade 3RK learners engaged in a mini- gardening project. Each learner planted yummy vegetables. They planted seeds which they nurtured daily until they were fully grown. Each child was encouraged to take their mature veggie to their parent, with the hope of earning a small amount of pocket money. Some learners insisted on getting their veggies cooked for a meal. Learners learnt that they could live sustainably and earn a living of the land. Some were so excited that they started planning their veggie garden for the summer vacation, hoping to earn some pocket money. Well done grade 3RK, so proud of you.
Through interacting with nature, kids feed their senses and get the physical activity that they need to feel happy and calm. They learn empathy by caring for other living things. They see beauty that helps them find balance in a challenging world. Most importantly, by planting and caring for seeds and seedlings, they learn to choose hope. They also connect to Allah Ta’ala, our Creator through His creation.
Where there’s a whisk there’s a way!
