From the Desk of Our Primary School Principal - Mr Z Muhammad

zm“Productivity is never an accident.  It is always the result of commitment to excellence, intelligent planning and focussed effort”

The Covid-19 pandemic impacted the world, causing disruption, chaos, uncertainty, confusion and a great deal of difficulty as it upset so many lives in so many ways.

We are all creatures of habit and often settle down in our comfort zone becoming very reluctant to change or do things differently. However, very often change is forced upon us. Covid-19 became a catalyst for change in all our lives and in our wildest dreams we would never have expected a year like the one that just went by which required us to quickly review, plan and implement new systems and procedures in a very short space of time.

It made us more resourceful, resilient and determined to rise above the challenges that presented itself.

Even before our State President placed the entire country on Lockdown Level 5, we at Al Falaah College were already well into our planning to continue teaching and learning with as little disruption as possible, ensuring that our learners were not disadvantaged in any way.

My sincere thanks and appreciation to our amazing educators who extended themselves, and entered the unfamiliar territory of online teaching with such passion and determination. Within a few days of training and upskilling themselves, we were ready to provide our learners with the quality of education that is synonymous with Al Falaah College on a very different platform.

I also applaud you as parents for working closely and collaboratively with the school to ensure that our children were not disadvantaged.

It was a sacrifice made by all of us but Alhumdulillah, our children benefitted greatly.

However, there is still no substitute for the intimate face to face relationship between the educator and the learner in a classroom and we were all really pleased when almost all our learners returned to school.

The year 2020 will be remembered for the rest of our lives.

As many of you know, I contracted the Covid-19 virus quite severely but Alhumdulillah, through the du’as of so many of you, I have almost fully recovered.   Unfortunately, in almost every one of our families, we had loved ones who were not as fortunate. May Allah Ta’ala grant them the highest stages of Jannah and may He grant us all the strength and patience to deal with our loss.

The effect of the Covid-19 pandemic also had a few positive spin offs as it  helped each of us to learn some very personal lessons in life. It also gave us time to bond as families, value our health, appreciate the simple things in life and be thankful for the infinite mercies and favours of our Creator.

I pray that we are all granted ease from every difficulty and  I ask Allah Ta’ala to bless us all with much more than we may have lost this year. Ameen

Stay safe. Stay protected.
